Literature's new darling, who is still the hottest thing since Harry Potter, was a Swedish journalist and anti-hate-group activist who planned a 10-book series for over 10 years before he started writing. He finished three books and part of a fourth before his sudden death in 2004 (there's rumours he committed suicide, but the official story is he had a massive heart attack caused by a heavy smoking habit). The existing trilogy was published in 2006 and, by 2008, had sold over 12 million copies in several languages. I'm reading the second book in the series and finding it enjoyable but nothing special.
